Geisslers Hofcomoedianten
The afterlife promotion of life
South Specific 2026 – first time at the festival
A theatrical procession, a funeral of sorrow, a site-specific commemoration of the joys of life, which encourages actors and audience alike to celebrate life, but does not forget human mortality. With joy in one eye and a tear in the other. A beautifully baroque contrast! Inspired by the unique cycle of painted frescoes Dance of Death from the hospital corridor in Kuks.
Geisslers Hofcomoedianten
Let’s baROCK! – that’s probably the best description of our theater work. In our productions, we combine modern art with the old, the comic with the tragic, the sublime with the mundane. For more than 20 years, we have been striving to present our audiences with modern, comedic, visually impressive, and highly musical theater. We are an independent theater company that combines old traditions with lively, contemporary theater in our work. We approach Baroque inspiration with creative freedom, mixing the original with the new, the lofty with the mundane, drama, musical theater, puppetry, and dance - so that we (and therefore you) can enjoy it. When we say that we combine modern art with the old, by "old" we mean Baroque art. Don't be alarmed – we don't want to ride a dead horse and do historical reconstructions in Baroque wigs and robes. We are inspired by the Baroque, searching for what is relevant to today – and believe me, the Baroque has a lot in common with the present day!
