Tanečno / Move Ostrava
Dance and movement performance for the train station
Places where we usually don’t stop. Places we simply pass through. Places that are merely connecting stations – yet it is here that we all meet, regardless of social, generational, national, ideological, or religious differences. Places full of movement; you just need to stop.
"Connecting Stations" is a new project created through collaboration between the associations Tanečno and Move Ostrava, set in the lobbies of train stations. It follows in the footsteps of "Passing/Station" – a series of creative research outcomes by Miriam Budzáková and Andrej Štepita.
The Tanečno civic association is an association of young people working in the field of art, culture, and community organization, which focuses primarily on activities supporting the art of dance in the Orava region. Its year-round activities revolve mainly around the organization of the Orava Festival of Dance and Movement – Tanečno. The association's goals include the development, creation, and preservation of cultural values and the promotion of education in the field of culture and the arts. The association fulfills these goals by creating year-round artistic and educational activities in the region. The association also acts as a creative and artistic group (The Urge, YOLT, Antrophos Anthem, Gentle man, Na hlásku, Be off...).
MOVE Ostrava is a progressive organization focused on the systematic support and development of performing arts in Ostrava and the wider region. At the same time, it actively participates in the representation of local artistic creation in a national and international context (performances by Luxury Memories, Divoké Husy, Carpe(t) Diem, The Urge, etc.). Its goal is to connect global know-how with the local art scene, highlight its specific qualities, and strengthen its potential through international cooperation. The association's key activity is the MOVE Fest Ostrava festival, which has been presenting leading Czech and foreign movement performers and performative projects every year since 2013.
The complete festival program, including the Opening Weekend, will be on sale from March 3, 2026. The South Specific Festival is part of České Budějovice – European Capital of Culture 2028. The festival is held under the auspices of the mayor of the statutory city of České Budějovice.
This part of the program is free of charge.
