Inauguration concert of Mario De Rose
The new general music director of the South Bohemian Theatre, Mario De Rose will introduce himself to the audiences of České Budějovice for the first time as a conductor on 9th December, accompanied by the Orchestra of the South Bohemian Theatre, with a concert consisting of works by Antonín Dvořák. For this occasion he has chosen the Cello Concerto in B minor, op. 104 (with the soloist Václav Žák) and the 12th Symphony E Minor, From the New World, op. 95. These works, which were composed over the period of 1894-95, during Dvořák’s stay in America, are not only compositions filled with beauty of sound, but also, for all performers, an opportunity for an innermost confession of the heart and its longing for home and love. The concert is presented on the occasion of the composer’s 170th birth anniversary.
