Jaroslav Hašek, Anna Saavedra
The legendary Czech novel in a new adaptation
Premiere 7. 10. 2022
An epic about the legendary wartime wanderings of a certain good soldier, which remains the greatest enigma of Czech literature, in a provocative new adaptation. Švejk, as the universal soldier, wanders through a crumbling world in which everything is suddenly different. Is it the old Austrian Empire, contemporary Europe, or the mysterious world of Franz Kafka’s novels? And who is Švejk in reality? A cunning genius or an idiot? A good-natured clown or a laughing beast? How can you remain humane in an inhumane age that has turned living beings into a cluster of numbers arrayed in military battalions?
